Our opinion, based on what we’re reading and seeing with our own properties, is that the rental market in Walnut Creek and the surrounding areas is bright and sunny. There has been no dip in the rental market as far as rental prices. In our area, as a lot of people know, we have what the media often calls a crisis. It’s not a crisis, really, just a shortage. There isn’t enough housing to meet the demand. It follows the supply and demand issues that occur in any business. With low supply and a high demand, prices get pushed up.

What does this mean?

It’s a great time to be an investor. It’s a great time to be a landlord. If you have a nice property that’s well-maintained and you’re working with a good property management company, you can attract excellent tenants who are willing to pay top dollar for the privilege of living here.

We don’t see anything changing with this formula. Over the last seven or eight years, rents have continued to go up. We only work with properties that are nice, clean, and well-maintained. They don’t have to be brand new homes, but the rental property must be well-maintained, and appealing to good tenants. There are lots of great people who want to live in your home.
